• Assam Arogya Nidhi scheme was implemented in the year 2010.
• Provides financial assistance up to Rs. 3,00,000/- to the poor and needy families having an annual income of less than Rs. 5,00,000/- for  treatment of specially in the period of hospitalization who has already exhausted the financial limit provided under PMJAY/MMJAY. Literary, Artist and Sports person and the cases fall under rare category and duly recommended by People’s Representatives also covered.
  • No age limit for coverage under this scheme.
  • No Govt. employee or govt. pensioners and their family will be eligible under the scheme.
  • Under the scheme financial assistance are admissible for treatment in all Govt. Hospital including Medical College & Hospitals/Tertiary Health Care facilities registered under Clinical Establishment Act., 2010 and list of empanelled hospitals notified under Assam Medical Attendance Rules 2008 and also those hospitals notified for PMJAY/MMJAY.
  • Financial assistance disbursed to the beneficiary concerned or reimbursed to the hospital concerned through bank transfer/Cheque/DD etc.
  • Applications are vetted by Principal cum Chief Superintendent/Superintendent, GMCH.
  • It was decided that any application containing any document which is more than 6 (six) months old will not be considered for reimbursement. (From the date of submission of the Assam Arogya Nidhi Application, at the O/o. The Mission Director, NHM, Assam)

 Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant should be permanent resident of Assam.
• Family income of the applicant should be less than 5 lakhs per annum.
• No age limit for applicants.
• Govt. employees or govt. pensioners are not entitled.
• Treatment should be undertaken in any govt. hospital including Govt. Medical Colleges and all reputed Pvt. Hospitals registered under Clinical Establishment Act. anywhere in the state or in the country.

Process:

Download the Assam Arogya Nidhi Application Form from the website of National Health Misson, Assam (www.nhm.assam.gov.in)

Furnish the following documents along with the application:

• Photograph of the Patient attested by any Doctor.
• Attested photocopy of Income Certificate of the family issued by Revenue Circle Officer.
• Attested photocopy of Identify & Address Proof (Voter ID, ADHAAR CARD, Driving license).
• Original bills, vouchers, receipts etc.
• Photocopy copy of Prescriptions.
• Discharge summary.
• Attested Photocopy copy of the first page of the Bank Pass Book.
• Attested Photocopy of Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana(PMJAY).

All the above cases the Application Form to be submitted to the Office of the Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam, Saikia Commercial Complex, Christian Basti, Guwahati: 781005

An Expert Committee comprising of specialist doctors of Gauhati Medical College verifies the applications and recommends the eligible cases.

As per the committee’s recommendations financial assistance is provided to eligible benefeciaries preferably through Direct Bank Transfer.

1. 1. The poor patients who require financial assistance during the period of hospitalizations will apply to the Principals/Superintendents of the Medical College & Hospitals who will refer such cases to the MD, NHM for grant of the financial assistance and the same will be decided immediately so that the patients get the financial support before he/she is released from the hospitals. Necessary financial support will be granted on the presumption that the patient has already exhausted the financial limit provided under PMJAY and MMJAY.

1. 2. Literary, Artists and Sport Persons, who do not have Social Security coverage, to be considered for financial support under the scheme.

1. 3. Cases which fall under rare category and duly recommended by People’s Representatives will also be considered for financial support under the scheme.

1. 4. NHM shall create a digital interface for requisition of fund by Principals/Superintendents of Medical College Hospitals for release of the fund expeditiously.

1. 5. Henceforth, Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN) cell at National Health Mission, Assam shall not receive any applications through any portal, Office of the Joint Director of Health Services of the Districts or any other sources.
